Hotel Gong Systems

The installation kit provides for an easy and safe installation of the
HGS Hotel Gong System.

WARNING: Use Safety Goggles While Using Drill Motors
Use a Drill Motor Rated at Approximately 1850 RPM

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
FOR DOOR MOUNTINGS

1. Remove the existing door viewer if applicable. If the door is not equipped with a viewer, proceed with Step 2

1a. Mark the mounting position on the center of the door at the following height from the bottom of the door:

* Minimum - 4'6" (1.37m)

* Maximum - 5'4" (1.63m)

2. Using the Hole Saw Kit, place the 15/32" drill bit at the existing viewer hole or at the location marked in Step 1a. To prevent a complete penetration of the door, which will cause cosmetic damage (splintering), the hole saw is equipped with a stop. Drill until the hole saw stop is reached.

3. On the opposite side of the door, insert the drill into the 15/32" opening described in Step 2 and drill until the hole saw rests vertically against the door surface. Continue drilling the hole through the entire door.

4. From the outside of the door (hallway), insert the Gong System (Figure 1) into the 2 5/8" opening.

Once inserted, place the Mounting Ring (Figure 2) on the inside of the door and loosely thread the ring on the body of the Gong System. The Gong System should be adjusted horizontally with the door viewer at the top.

Insert the System Locking Key (Figure B) into the Mounting Ring and tighten the key in a clockwise direction.

There are two (2) existing hex head bolts placed in the Mounting Ring. Using the Allen Wrench (Figure C) tighten the two (2) hex head bolts in the Mounting Ring to secure the entire system to the door. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN!

5. From the inside of the door, thread the Sealing Cap (Figure 3) onto the Gong System and hand tighten only. Secure the Sealing Cap with the hex head bolt, located in the lower right hand corner of the battery compartment, with Allen Wrench (Figure C) until it is snug. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN!

The Hotel Gong System is now a fixed part of the door and is tamper-proof.

6. Insert the 9 Volt Alkaline Battery (Figure 4) into the battery compartment. Ensure battery polarities are correct. The negative terminal (-) of the battery must be to the "right" as the battery is inserted.

The GONG System will not function if the battery is installed incorrectly!

Secure the battery compartment with cover (Figure 5)

* Slide the right edge (rounded edge) of the battery cover under the Sealing Cap while pressing the cover

* An audible "click" will be heard when the cover is in a proper position and is magnetically locked in place.

The Hotel Gong System installation is now complete and maintenance free.
